TRIPS OUTSIDE NEPAL

1. Mt. Kailash / Lake Manasarovar Trek Nepal/ Tibet (25 days)
In May 1993 the government of Nepal and China reached an accord that allowed the first treks across the border between the two countries. It used to be a route for Nepalese Pilgrims while foreign trekkers were never allowed to trek form Nepal to Tibet. The journey takes you to Humla, Nepal’s most remote district, which is culturally and scenically rewarding. The ethnic groups in Humla consist of mostly Thakuris, Chettris and Bhotias.

A 50 minutes flight from Nepalgunj takes you to Simikot (2910m.) the district head quarters and starting point of your trek. The trek passes through Nara La, a pass at (4580m.), then to Hillsa (3720m.), the border town between China and Nepal. From a nearby Tibetan salt trading post at 3680m., you will catch a jeep to take a 2 hrs drive to Taklakot (3920m.) via Kojarnath. From Taklakot a 3hrs hour drive via Gurla La, a pass (4560m.), at the base of Mt. Kailash, which is the most sacred mountain in Asia . to Hindus Kailash is the abode of lord Shiva and lake Manasarovar is the soul of Brahma. Form Darchan the 4 days Mt. Kailash circuit begins, passing through Dolma La a pass at 5630m., the highest point of the trek. The return back journey to Simikot is the same way back drive to Taklakot and a then 7 days trek to Simikot via Nara Lara La, Yari Tumkot, Yarbang, Kermi and Tuling from your flight to Nepalgunj form Simikot.
