I
couldn't believe that the rapids could be so continuous, challenging,
and totally runnable for so long. The mountains were incredible! Definitely
the best steep river I have ever rafted."
Bob Beazley, Guide Marsyangdi '95

Turbulent rapids intertwine with abrupt drops as we
dodge our way down intricate chutes of sparkling water.
Village terraces cling precariously to the slopes and
surreal snow capped peaks hang suspended above us as we
drift through the world's deepest gorge. Being one of
the holiest rivers in Nepal, every junction of the Kali
Gandaki is dotted with cremation sites and above ground
burial mounds

The Karnali, Nepal's mightiest and pristine river,
descends through the Himalayas in a series of
magnificent gorges. In traditional Nepalese fashion,
dozens of porters carry our equipment for two days as we
trek to one of Nepal's most isolated and least explored
areas. Exceptional big volume rafting through tropical
jungles inhabited by the nomads traditionally known as
"Route", deserted beaches and small villages.

"Raging
River" in the local dialect aptly describes one
of the best whitewater runs in the world. Only recently
opened for commercial rafting (many rapids have not been
named yet), the Marshyangdi is one of the next generations
of rivers in Nepal, steeper and with a much more continuous
stretch of rapids. The trek is stunning, with great views
of the Manaslu and the Annapurnas ahead of you the entire
time. The scenery is breathtaking.

This
is the longest river trip offered in Nepal, traversing
270 km through the beautiful Mahabharat Range on its meandering
way from the put in at Dolalghat to the take out at Chatara,
far down on the Gangetic Plain. It is quite an experience
to begin a river trip just 3-hours out of Kathmandu, barely
60-km from the Tibet border, and end the trip looking
down the hot, dusty gun barrel of the North Indian Plain
just a week later.
